What a week.

It has been a hectic week. I did an interview with Donal Nolan for the Kerryman and had photo's taken by the canal, surrounded by lots of running shoes !!!! The one thing I've struggled to do is to get time to do long runs........but thats happening tomorrow (20 miles).
Its been a really encouraging week too. The support that I have received already is unbelievable. Offers from friends to run full marathons with me or to run in relays and others to be at the finish line for when I get there.
The very talented Mr Ger Greaney has taken over the role of event manager !!!!!! Thanks Ger.
For now there are lots more miles to be run so if you see me out running in this cold, windy weather, you are welcome to either jog along or just wave to say hi.

And so it begins.......................

May 2014 our lives were changed when Pat was diagnosed by Mr Tom Murphy with Oesophageal cancer. Pat underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and in September had an oesophagectomy (essentially had his oesophagus removed). As a thank you to Mr. Murphy, his team and the staff at the Mercy Hospital I have decided to run 12 marathons in 8 months starting in March and finishing in October.

All funds raised will be donated to Mr Tom Murphy who requires funding to start a multicenter study exploring the role of bacteria in the development of barrett's oesophagus and oesophageal cancer.
